Opportunities for success

Social or financial disadvantage should not be a barrier to success at The Moreton Bay Colleges. The Foundation is growing current investments in two esteemed bursary funds to enable outstanding students to join our colleges.

THE JENNIFER HAYNES MEMORIAL BURSARY

The Jennifer Haynes Memorial Bursary provides boys and girls who would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend Moreton Bay College or Moreton Bay Boys' College. Jennifer Haynes was the Principal of Moreton Bay College from 2006 to 2011 and then Executive Principal of the amalgamated colleges until 2014. She was deeply loved and respected by students, staff and the community. Jennifer is remembered as a strong advocate for the education of girls and for the development of boys to be gentlemen in the fullest sense of the word. Sadly, Jennifer is no longer with us. However, her legacy lives on in the contribution she has made as an educator and the future educational opportunities she has built through the Bursary.

THE QUENTIN BRYCE BURSARY

The Quentin Bryce Bursary provides girls from socially disadvantaged backgrounds with demonstrated potential to achieve high academic success the opportunity of a secondary school education at Moreton Bay College. Social disadvantage refers to any girl whose family circumstances means that she could not otherwise afford an education of the kind offered by MBC. Family circumstances, accident or illness, dislocation, migrant status or economic hardship are considered. Girls of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent are encouraged to apply.

The Bursary fund is named in honour of Dame Quentin Bryce AD, CVO, former Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia and past student of Moreton Bay College.
